Research

Nanoscale Energy Conversion

Our research group (4 postdoctoral researchers, 15 PhD and honours students) is engaged in research on nanomaterials and the use of these materials in various types of energy transfer. We study quantum size effects in semiconductors, plasmonic effects in metal nanocrystals, energy transfer between nanocrystals and molecules, nanoscale mechanics and we try to incorporate these unusual effects in devices such as photovoltaic devices, quantum dot LEDss, plasmonic sensors and single molecule based devices. We also use these nanocrystals as biolabels for studying dynamic processes. in biological systems. A full list of current activities, publications and collaborators is available on our website.
