Profile: In July 2000, to mark the completion
of 25 years dedicated service to the University, Douglas
was presented with the University Service Medal. Douglas provides indispensable instrument
support to the Analytical Division in the School. Instrumentation expertise includes
HPLC, AAS(flame and graphite furnace), GC, GC-MS, Polarography,
UV-Vis Spectroscopy, Ion-exchange chromatography, Fluorescence,
FTIR, H1 NMR (LINKS) He provides service and training to
staff, undergraduate and research students and the
practical hands-on skills and knowledge on can only
come from one with so many years experience in his
area of expertise. Doug has been running a smooth and efficient instrumentation facility
in the Analytical Labs for many years. He
has improvised and upgraded instrumentation to cater
for the needs of the undergraduates/research students
and staff.
