The Labyrinth
All chemistry subjects use the University-supported learning management system, Blackboard , for delivery of resources such as lecture notes, tutorial problems and course notices. In our first year subjects, in addition to the use of Blackboard LMS we use an in-house developed resource, ChemCAL Online , which delivers a range of interactive resources, such as tutorials on specific topics and online prelabs that must be completed before each experiment. ChemCAL has a range of interactive questions and animations that form an integrated aspect of our students' learning.
Many students use these online resources from their homes or via other computers, at times convenient to them. The School also operates a small computer lab termed The Labyrinth for students' use. The Labyrinth is located on the first floor of the Chemistry building. It is open from 9am to 5pm each day of semester throughout the academic calendar year. In addition, the foyer of the Chemistry Building and the Chemistry Library are covered by a wireless network (Uniwireless), and students can use their own wireless enabled laptops or other portable computing devices in the study areas provided.
